Lean White Belt

This one-day instructor-led Lean White Belt certification program introduces the basic Lean tools and improvement philosophy to the workforce at large. The program is targeted at all levels. It provides them with a basic introduction to and awareness of Lean Thinking and the benefits that can accrue to both themselves and the organization through the successful implementation of Lean principles.

This program helps to educate and involve all employees in their organization’s efforts to improve patient care and eliminate waste. Implementing Lean without staff involvement is impossible, and equally, involvement without knowledge is doomed to failure. The program is an excellent way to train large numbers of healthcare staff as part of a change management or awareness initiative for Lean implementation.

The cost of the program varies depending on the customization and level of detail required. Please email info@leanscm.com to arrange a call with one of our educators.

The program is certified by the Irish Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). The IIE is a chapter of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers and is an independent national body recognized by the Irish government as an educational certification organization.

The program provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the principles of Lean Thinking. An experienced Lean facilitator introduces Lean Thinking and its origins; outlines why organizations typically implement Lean; identifies and distinguishes between the principles of Lean Thinking; and discusses the main categories and types of waste. The facilitator also outlines the benefits associated with an effective workplace organizational 5S program, and provides an analysis of each of the stages involved in its implementation. Interactive games and breakout sessions are used throughout the program delivery.

Delivery is by classroom only, onsite in your facility, and is one day in duration. Maximum classroom size is 50 personnel per setting.

Participants are assessed through a 15-minute written multiple-choice examination at the end of the one-day program.

Having undertaken this program, you will:

  • Understand what Lean is and the need for Lean Thinking to reduce or eliminate process waste across the organization
  • Understand what you and the organization will gain from fully supporting a Lean initiative
  • Know the role everyone plays in the success of Lean
  • Understand the link between Lean and your patients

Many Lean initiatives have failed because staff have not been involved in the transformation program. This program will help to communicate a positive message on Lean, and it will show you how to ensure positive staff involvement in the change program by emphasizing teamwork and cooperation.
